    New Release … 0.60113

    Bug Fixes:

    • Fixed an issue causing crashes on some systems
    • Added Global keyboard shortcut CTRL+ALT+CMD+ = which brings up the snapshot selection window
    • Fixed an issue with the snapshot selection window displaying properly on certain machines
    • Fixed an logging calendar issue
    • Added Italian translation (thanks Stefano Valicchia); AL has 9 translations!

    • Added a new AND VERY USEFUL (yet complicated) Feature: Snapshot@Location.

    Snapshot@Location Explained:

It is very common (and indeed the purpose) of AL users to apply a single snapshot to multiple locations:

Example: SNAPSHOT = Library; LOCATIONS: 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, 3rd Floor

However, particularly in multi-floor buildings, we might want a different printer for each floor. The rest of the Library snapshot would be exactly the same, except we’d want different printers for different floors. Thus, it would be desirable to have a location-specific printer but not have to create three different snapshots that are pretty much equal in order to do that.

When we’re on the 1st floor, the default printer is fine:

But when we go to the 2nd Floor, the printer is no longer correct, even though the Library snapshot is otherwise correct.

So, when the snapshot menu is open, hold ALT to bring up the “Location Specific Snapshot Update” menu bar:

When we click this, it will save any snapshot elements that have changed (i.e. that are different from Library). In our case, that is ONLY the printer. Now, when we open the snapshot menu, there is a tiny blue mark, next to the printer:

So, next time we come to the 2nd Floor the Library snapshot will be applied – all except for the printer. The printer will be the 2nd floor printer instead. Instead of creating 3 different snapshots for only tiny differences in snapshots, we have 1 snapshot with location-specific “amendments.” Make sense?

    Bug Fixes:

    • Fixed an issue with @invisible for Adium Status
    • Fixed an issue with Applications action causing crashes on machines where iChat, Adium, and Skype were used simultaneously (two or more)
    • Fixed an issue with scanning after an ethernet disconnection

    • Improved logging for future versions so bug reports should include more infrormation.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing first-run crashes for new users (oops!)

I will not have a significant amount of time this week to release further updates, these were high priority fixes that I tried to get out as fast as I could. I appreciate everyone who has sent me bug reports! It makes these fixes MUCH easier.

    Bug Fixes:

    • Fixed an issue caused by 0.60106 that re-introduced the network traffic leak from CoreLocation
    • Updated the Wi-Fi location detection algorithm to account for statistical issues in high-AP density areas. Location detection should be back to its regular, accurate self.

    • Fixed a small memory leak caused on startup

Translate AirPort Location into your Native Language

AirPort Location supports many different languages, but I’m always looking to expand. If you are bilingual, please consider translating AirPort Location. There are less than two hundred phrases – some users have completed translation in less than an hour!

    Bug Fixes:

    • Updated Hardware Sets to fix issues with automatic scanning
    • Updated “Fix-Misidentified Location” to apply the appropriate snapshot after indicating the correct location
    • Updated “Name New Location” so that if a “new” location is added to an existing location, the correct snapshot will be applied
    • Updated iCal History so that events are no longer doubled, and no events are created when the laptop is sleeping.

    New Release … 0.60105

    Bug Fixes:

    • Updated the Mapping & Address approximations (again) to be more accurate, and ignore the local cache
    • Address now includes an APPROXIMATED street number. Again, these are approximate and have nothing to with detecting locations that are associated with snapshots.
    • Updated the location detection algorithm to be more sensitive but also more robust (improved error checking)
    • If your snapshot includes an OSX Network Location, it will be changed first, then the rest of the snapshot will be executed.

    Coming next…

I have decided to switch the Reverse Geocoding from Geonames to Google Maps to increase support for non-American users. This will take some time but will result in more accurate street address approximations.
